My English name is Rosie Mapplebeck. I was given the shamanic name of "Keeper of the Rose" in 2001 and try to remain true to its' loving compassionate form. I work with high Divine guidance for the Greatest Good and Truth.
Born in Southern England, I grew up in the industrial
Northeast, where I viewed a damaged world from the hills above the towns. Always
accompanied by animals (other peoples!) and with a doll's house full of pupating
moths to ensure their survival from birds, I grew up drawing birds and wild
flowers and loving traditional story tales. I loved singing and drama but soon
discovered I would have to be content with myself as audience as no one else
could be still long enough to listen. I kept my songs to myself. I was a shy
child, made shyer by removing to London when I was 15. I would sit on a fence
and imagine the vista in front into hills and open countryside. I gathered
brambles and read herbals and animal behaviour works.
I studied Botany at University and was horrified to discover that then meant genetic manipulation, rather than ecology and the study of the interactions on our living planet.
Gradually I worked my way towards my present country
lifestyle until, having qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1989, I left the city
life and moved to Ayrshire in south-western Scotland, to found Specialcats of
Ayr. This is a special little boarding cattery where the emphasis is on peace,
understanding of needs and a healing environment, for people as much as their
animals.
I continued to study animal behaviour science and psychology and work in Veterinary practices locally. I was a trustee for the Feline Advisory Bureau, to whose standards the cattery was built and is run.
I kept milk goats and sheep; hens, ducks and geese and started to keep bees. In 1992 I had my son, Graeme. A while after that I had to give up vet practise as one job too many! I studied homeopathy briefly at the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital, until it was decided that only qualified vets could act as veterinary homeopaths, when I had to stop. It had given me groundings in homeopathic and flower remedy which I employed to advantage for house, home and cattery. I dabbled (under instruction) with acupuncture for my dog and Ayurvedic medicine for my cat to enhance their old age. I also studied aromatherapy for medicinal use (again that has now become "vets only").
I was aware that creatures became well when they stayed
with me but did not know how this could be employed deliberately until 1997,
when I encountered some wonderful healers and joined a medicine circle. After
this, things snowballed as they always do when allowed to flow, and I became a
crystal healer and hands-on practitioner. Now, faith healing is an accepted
practice with ethical and professional guidelines that pre-date the veterinary
surgeons' act, and is permissible to use with animals as long as the vet in
charge of an animal gives his consent. (Visit
The Royal College of Veterinary
Surgeons website and see the "Online Guide to Professional Conduct" and look
for "Treatment of Animals by Non-veterinary Surgeons".)
In 2000 I started storytelling, initially at Graeme's school. I soon met other tellers and singers and joined them to explore the use of story, song, writing, art and dance as therapy for change and expression. I now use these as tools also to facilitate healing change in others.
In 2004 I met Wallace Smith from Michigan, a teacher of
Esoteric Healing science. I knew that this modality was for me immediately and
have been studying this since. I am now a qualified practitioner of Esoteric
Healing and member of the International Network of Esoteric Healers. I have been
amazed and privileged to work in this way since and seen some wonderful results. It is a beautiful and gentle way to work, complementing and greatly enhancing
the other work I do.
I live in a character cottage amidst a wooded, wildlife garden, with my son Graeme, my animal and bird friends and a couple of hives of bees. I still run the boarding cattery with assistance from my valiant team. Visitors are welcome but please arrange in advance so that we can put aside time especially for you.
